Welcome to 2021!
Suffice to say, 2020 was a year we’d like to forget quickly enough, but this is a new year and therefore an opportunity to look ahead instead of languishing on what last year brought us. In all fairness, though, some aspects of the year were actually pretty good too. Anyway, it’s a new year and we’re delighted to kickstart with a new edition of our social round-up.
In this issue, Facebook enables split testing of non-ad videos, Twitter tests cross-platform tweet functionality, Instagram launches new content calendar, and Linkedin unveils new product pages. Let’s get to it.
Facebook Enables Split Testing For Organic Videos
Early last month, news of this new feature in the Facebook Creator Studio hit the web as it became available to a wider audience. However, split testing for non-ad Facebook videos has actually been available since September 2020.
Split testing your organic videos is a proven way to determine what aspect of the video works better for the intended audience. Brands and marketers do it all the time with their Facebook ads, but now we can utilize this feature for our regular video postings.
Basically, you just prepare your video, post it normally, and you will see a number of ways through which you can share it. This way, you get to see which ones resonated the most with your viewers.
In the announcement, Facebook stated
“Organic Video Post Testing in Creator Studio lets you test 2-4 variations of a non-ad video post to see which one your audience likes most. During the test, the posts are circulated to your audience, but not posted to your Page. When the test ends, the winning post is automatically published on your Page.”
The social media giant went on to list a number of ‘Perks’ that come with using the new Split Testing feature. These include:
- comparing various video aspects, such as titles, descriptions, and even thumbnails
- Split testing as many as 4 posts using the same video
- See results in just a few minutes
- Use findings from results to grow your audience further
Twitter Tests Cross-platform Tweet Functionality
Twitter is sharing the love to other social media platforms as it tests tweet sharing directly to Snapchat stories. Though currently available via IOS only, such cross-platform tweet functionality is a welcome development for users of both social channels. Twitter is also looking at extending tweet sharing to Instagram stories, as well as other platforms.
Instagram Launches New Content Calendar

Photo and video sharing platform, Instagram is working on a content calendar so creators and users can map out their publications in a more efficient manner. At the moment, the calendar is just the standard scheduler without too many tweaked-out options, but with sufficient uptick, it’s only a matter of time until Facebook introduces some new upgrades and makes it a completely stand-alone calendar.
To access it, users can go to Publishing Tools and click on the Instagram tab at the top of your screen. Make sure your Instagram is connected to the Creator studio. You should see the Content Calendar on the left-hand side.
LinkedIn Reveals New Product Pages

With over 660 million users, LinkedIn continues to be the go-to platform for professionals. Last year, the platform introduced Live features capability, as well as the ability to include Stories through the app. Now Linkedin has unveiled a new “Products” tab for businesses to highlight their products while also being able to showcase them with rich multimedia.
It also includes options to promote easier lead generation through demo requests, contact sales forms, and other custom call-to-action.
The best part is that it’s not just businesses that can benefit from this new feature. Individuals and organizations can also use it to showcase their product endorsements, highlight user testimonials, and so on.
